Welcome to our
Rottie world. The picture above is the view from our
home which is located in the foothills of the Southern
Appalachian Mountains. My husband Jim and I retired
here from South Florida in 2002 to enjoy "the good life."
It is very beautiful here and the weather is mild. Not
as much heat as we had in Florida and more of a winter.
We were wondering how our dogs would adjust, but they love
the winter and get very excited the few days that it snows
in Northeast Tennessee.
Rottweilers have
been my favorite breed since I bought my first "pet quality"
male in 1976. Although they can sometimes be a
challenge, they are the most loyal, stable and loving dog
you can own. They are extremely smart, and for that
reason, sometimes we find it hard to stay one step ahead of
them!! They really have a way of stealing your heart
forever.
Over the last
few years since retiring in Tennessee, we have become
involved in dog showing. When our dogs began to
achieve their championships, we moved on to obedience,
agility, even some tracking and herding. This breed
loves to work and they love new challenges. Our male,
Hero, is a registered therapy dog ("Therapy Dogs
International"). He loves to visit nursing homes and
schools. It gives you such a wonderful feeling when
the patients in nursing homes see the dogs coming to visit.
Most of them have had pets at one time or another and miss
them terribly. Hero is a natural. He puts that
big head in their lap and licks their hands. Most of
the time the patients will bend their head and Hero loves to
give them kisses. It is a very rewarding experience
for me as an owner.
Although our
breeding program is limited, Jim and I are working hard to
do our part to improve the breed with careful selection of
our sires and dams. All of our dogs have their health
clearances and any litters we breed will be carefully and
methodically planned.
